Most of them work at tea shop, factories or maid/servant in house. Some of them were orphans and wander here and there. Most of them don’t have any permanent dwelling. That’s why they took shelter under bridge or beside platform of Bolpur Railway Station. But very recent they were driven out from there as it is a property of Indian Railways and they have to stay in open ground along with their family. During the rainy and winter seasons it is tough for them to survive. Their family doesn’t have any fixed income. Thus having poor economic conditions they don’t even manage their square meals properly. Most of them don’t have clothes to wear on. In these circumstances it is not possible for a child to carry out their study, because his/ her survival is at risk. In the morning we provide them with breakfast to them and during lunch, most of them avail themselves of the Mid-Day Meal facility from school. But this is not enough for them, because we found most of the time they hardly ever have their dinner. Sometimes they are able to manage it, but insufficient and very unhygienic. Due to this, recently few of them suffer from skin diseases. Since 2012 we are given responsibilities of those children whom we have to mainstream towards a healthy life. During our work we tried our best to explore all possibilities which help them to maintain their life. But, still there are certain difficulties which we attempt to solve. Our proposal for construction of hostel for underprivileged children is the only wayout. If we are able to provide them with good accommodation, hygienic food and clean clothes, then only we help them to build their healthy future.
The motto of this organization is to empower the backward women with health-awareness, academic awareness, economic reinforcement and above all, environmental awareness for all round social upliftment.
