Women Empowerment Through Cluster

Women Empowerment

"Suchetana" society has been working for women employment since last nine (9) years at different Blocks and Municipality in Birbhum District. Beneficiaries are mostly from BPL families and are artisans of rural areas. Several skill development trainings have been provided in th rural and urban areas for women  such as Kantha Stitch (needle work), Batik Hand Embroidary, Jute Products, Tailoring, Wood knitting, Ladies' purse, Bag-making, etc which are funded by Central Govt., State Govt. and own. Some  trained artisans can now earn a lump sum to meet their livelihood requipments. A number of women of Bolpur Municipality were trained earlier on tailoring in which many women have purchased stitching machines by their own and can now earn a standard amount. In rural area near about 100 women are working in the field of kantha stitch. Suchetana arranged a marketing platform for them i.e. SHARANYACRAFTS outlet where they sell their products. Thus their poverty was somehow reduced by the venture. If these groups of women can be developed with enormous skills, they can earn a handful utilizing their skill and labour.
